Philsaga Mining Corporation (PMC) was established on May 2001 after it was issued Certificate of Registration No. D200100478 by the Securities and Exchange Commission. It was not until July 2005 though that it formally started operations. The main office is located at C.P. Garcia Highway, Sasa, Davao City, Philippines. Its mine site is located Upper Coo, Barangay Consuelo, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur and field administrative offices at Bayugan 3, Rosario, Agusan del Sur.
The Coo Mine covers a total area of 592.1562 hectares. It is within 2 Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSAs), i.e. 423.1562 hectares covered by MPSA 262-2008-XIII and 169 hectares covered by MPSA No. 299-2009-XIII. The project was granted Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) No. 0904-009-1010 issued on 9 October 2012.
The focus of our business lies in gold production and exploration. Processing of extracted ore is done by its affiliate Mindanao Mineral Processing & Refining Corporation with which PMC has a Tolling Agreement. The current capacity of the processing plant is 2500 tons per day.
Based on the current resource, the mine is expected to last ten (10) years. Ongoing exploration activities will further increase the mine life of the Coo Project as the resource is regularly updated and the mine continues to expand. As of its latest audited financial statements, PMC has total assets worth P16,367,446,672.00.
As of 31 December 2020, PMC employs a total of 2,645 employees which is expected to increase with further planned expansion of its mine site. It also indirectly employs thousands of workers through its contractors. Most of these workers are from the host and neighboring communities. PMC is one of the biggest employers in Agusan del Sur and has led to a boom in other allied industries and businesses in the area.
Aside from direct benefits to its employees and their families, the company has several support and development projects under its Social Development and Management Program as required under the Mining Act. The host communities directly benefit from SDMP. PMC also has a strong a Corporate Social Responsibility program. Among its CSR projects are Adopt-a-School Program, Adopt-a-Creek Program, Adopt-a-Mountain, Adopt-a-Mining Forest, scholarships for deserving indigent college students, and interest free loans to farmers in Bunawan and Rosario, Agusan del Sur.
